Email marketing

Contacts, campaigns, automations and deliverability.

1. Set up sending

  1. Add a sending domain in Email marketing β€Ί Sending domains. We give you the DKIM, SPF and DMARC records; if the domain is registered with us, one click adds them.
  2. Add a sender address in Sender addresses, e.g. Ada Fashion <hello@adafashion.ng>.
  3. No domain yet? Choose Our sending domain when you compose and we send from a verified platform domain.

2. Build your audience

  • Import any client list (CSV, Excel or phone contacts) with Contacts β€Ί Import from file. See Importing contacts.
  • Sign-up forms on your website or a hosted page add people automatically, with optional double opt-in.
  • Lists group contacts (e.g. Customers), tags label them (e.g. Lagos, VIP), and segments are saved filters that update by themselves (e.g. tagged VIP and opened in the last 30 days).
Only email people who agreed to hear from you. Bought, rented or scraped lists break our Acceptable Use Policy and get sending paused.

3. Send a campaign

  1. Go to Email marketing β€Ί Compose & send. Each of the four steps gets a green tick when it's ready.
  2. To: choose lists or segments, or type addresses, or press Load emails from a file.
  3. From: your sender address and a reply-to inbox you read.
  4. Subject: 30 to 50 characters reads best on phones. Turn on the A/B test to try two subject lines.
  5. Content: plain text (most personal, best for the inbox), HTML, or one of your templates. Personalise with {{first_name}}, {{last_name}} and {{email}}.
  6. Send now or schedule under Options. The summary shows recipients and the exact cost before you send.

The Inbox check warns about things that hurt delivery, like spammy words or very short emails. An unsubscribe link and one-click unsubscribe headers are added to every campaign automatically.

Free emails and limits

  • You get a daily allowance of free emails; they're used first and include a small β€œSent free with Social Boost Lab” line. After that you pay per 1,000 emails (see Pricing).
  • New accounts have a daily sending limit that rises automatically as you send good mail without bounces or spam reports.
  • Bounces, unsubscribes and spam complaints are suppressed automatically and never emailed again. Accounts with a bounce rate above 2% or a complaint rate above 0.08% may be paused until the list is cleaned.

Reports

Each campaign shows delivery, opens, clicks, bounces, unsubscribes and cost, with per-recipient detail. Pause or cancel a campaign while it's sending.

Automations

Automations send emails for you when something happens, such as a contact being added to a list. Build them in Email marketing β€Ί Automations with triggers, waits and email steps, for example a welcome series.
